The Book of Psalms has always fascinated not only the occasional reader of the Bible, but also the believers who one so many times have found their refuge by reading the verses of these poems. Psalm II belongs to the series of royal psalms and it is possible to have been written in a period following the reign of David, although Davidic paternity shouldn’t be denied. The recital of this psalm by the king at the crowning ceremony conferred a particular element of safety at times characterized by political instability ,which came both from within the people and from outside the people of Israel. Its message is not focused only on the problems issued by the earthly lords and their continuous fighting, but in stating the fact that God is the Lord of the Earth, He is the Lord of Lords that all the people on Earth must obey Him. Psalm II also addresses a question regarding power: “where the power to control the history of mankind does come from”? The answer to this question is a resounding one, an answer which points out the fact that the power belongs to God and His Anointed who is set king on Mount Zion.
